Abstract

The 2024 edition of Innovación Universitaria is presented as a more solid scientific-academic editorial project, with the objective of promoting scientific communication and the exchange of knowledge. The journal, now multidisciplinary, open access and non-profit, seeks to foster a culture of research from an interdisciplinary approach and promote academic exchange between the national and international scientific community. Significant changes have been implemented in the editorial processes, including the creation of a new logo, an internal editorial board and an international scientific committee, as well as the addition of an external refereeing procedure with a double-blind peer review. The journal is divided into three sections: Editorial, Artículos originales and Intercambio, where opinion articles, original research papers and reflections or systematization of scientific-academic experiences will be published. The 2024 edition includes an opinion article by Mónica Chinchilla Valverde, rector of Universidad Internacional de las Américas, an original article on the relationship between the sources of income of the Social Development and Family Allowances Fund (Fodesaf) and its total annual expenditures, and a review article on the interactions between treatments for mental disorders and medicinal plants in Costa Rica.
